Assignment was to create a mascot and logo for an existing or fictional brand. The chosen company was Kit Kat, and the mascot created is the Kit Kat Kitty Cat. Logo was redesigned using combining logos from multiple countries. Kit Kat is similar to the Japanese word for "good luck", so inspiration was taken from the maneki-neko, or, beckoning cat, a sign of good luck. First image is the final design, followed by the process. The process involved many iterations of the cat, including designs where the cat was made of chocolate, the cat wearing the wrapper, involving spots imitating maneki-nekos, etc. Design changes were also made to the design of the cat and its posing to make it visually clear and appealing. The final design involved all the branded colors of Kit Kat, with the color of the cat being the color of the wafer, and the stripes imitating the candy layers between the wafers.
